7 reasons to watch Homecoming by Beyoncé.. NOW!

April 26, 2019

That Beyoncé is a queen, everyone knows! But she managed to overcame it! If you don’t live under a rock and have an instagram account, you probably saw at least THOUSAND THINGS (photos, videos, people freaking out and a #GirlPower vibe) related to Beychella, the name that was given to the Coachella festival after Beyoncé's epic presentation, in 2018.

In fact, it was two presentations and the first marked the return of Beyoncé to the stage after giving birth to the twins Rumi and Sir. This presentation was scheduled for 2017, but it was when Beyoncé discovered she was pregnant with the twins and obviously had to cancel and who made the presentations instead was Lady Gaga.

I was extremely curious (like everyone who was not present at this historical moment) to watch videos of the presentation, but I didn’t get much at the time. I figured that something big would come, after all, Beyoncé does not give a point without a knot and well.. SAID AND DONE! Now Netflix has released "Homecoming", a film written, directed and with executive production of.. Bey! With a collegial vibe, Homecoming brought diversity, culture, sensational choreography, Destiny's Child reunion and gorgeous looks to the stage! So let's go to the 7 reasons to watch Homecoming by Beyoncé now!

1. HUGE SHOW!

The whole movie has a mix of scenes from the two shows that happened in 2018 and I loved the editing! Perfect cuts and that initially made me think "How did she change clothes?! Were the lights?! What's happening?! ", but I soon realized that it was a mix of the two presentations. Beside the images, the film has backstage parts, which in particular, are my favorite parts! Because let's be honest ... this is where the reality, the effort and all the dedication for the show to happen, is.

 2. BEHIND THE SCENES AND LIFE LESSONS

One of the facts that most caught my attention in watching Homecoming is that, when we witness an absurd presentation like this, we do not think about the days of rehearsal, we do not think about physical and psychological preparation, we do not think about the things that the ones involved had to give up in order to being there, we do not see the effort, the amount of people involved, the fatigue and the collective work that has behind the scenes.

We watched a full show, with more than 200 people on stage, between band and dancers, perfectly choreographed and we have no idea of the planning and rehearsals that were necessary for the presentations to take place.

Aside planning and rehearsals, Beyoncé opens her heart and talks about overcoming. She talks about how hard was to return to rehearsals after pregnancy, how it was to be able to reconcile time between family/work and how difficult it was and how much time and persistence were needed to return to her form before pregnancy. I found amazing a moment when she says "I'm hungry," shortly after saying everything she cut off from the food to achieve the goal she set, and I was struck by all the things she cut! I'm in the fight with sugar over my 20 years of living and I still have not got it! Hahaha: x

But finally, I find it very humble when a personality openly exposes its vulnerabilities and uncertainties, because it makes us identify and think "I can do it too!". And above all, it shows that she, a well-known and recognized star, also goes through the same difficulties and doubts that many women experience when having children, or taking care of their home, paying attention to the husband/boyfriend and still running for their personal goals .

3. FIRST BLACK WOMAN TO BE THE MAIN ATTRACTION!

The performance was epic and Beyoncé was the first Black woman to be the main attraction of the festival. And she made HISTORY !!!

In addition to opening her heart and talking about the fight that was to went back to the stage after having performed a cesarean section to save one of her children who was at risk of death, she shared fatigue, persistence, talked about representativeness, about culture and talked about how much she wanted people to feel represented on the stage.

4. FEMINISM

That Beyoncé raises the flag of feminism, isn’t new to anyone. Throughout her career, Beyoncé has made songs that approach this theme, has women in her team and passed her message on the Coachella stage when thanking all the women who have already helped her in her career and with the audio of Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, who is featured in the clip of "Flawless", which talks about the definition of feminism. Needless to say that the timing of the audio was one of the highlights of the show! #GirlPower

5. DESTINY'S CHILD

If you miss Beyoncé, Michelle and Kelly together, that's one more reason! I loved Girlbands, especially because they had endless choreography, and Destiny's Child rocked a lot! Some of my favorite songs are "Girl", "Survivor", "Lose My Breath" and "Soldier" and this reunion has some of these songs with their choreography ... pure nostalgia!

6. AMAZING OUTFITS!

As a person in love with fashion, this detail could not be left out and the garments were a show apart! The outfits have been signed by Balmain and are more than beautiful and personalized.

As it appears in the film, Beyoncé explains that each piece was thought (and personalized with the initials of the singer!) To make this "Collegial" vibe and also pieces that refer to other moments of her career as the military-print pieces, where she, Michelle and Kelly sang Survivor, among many other Destiny's Child hits.

As there were two shows, in different weeks, the looks had some variations. For example, the look with jeans shorts and yellow shirt and with the band and dancers all in yellow also had the option in pink .. anyway, you will notice the changes. I loved each of the looks and I wanted them all! haha

7. THE BOSS SIDE OF BEY!

If you believe that Beyoncé stays at home, just doing massages and leaving all the hard work for her team, you are very much mistaken! Beyond beautiful and inspiring, this film shows the entrepreneur side of Bey.

The filming shows that she participates in each rehearsal, from every decision-making, from the choice of the format/size of the stage and the dancers to the choice of each one of the show garments.

It shows the importance of choosing the right people for your project, people who understand the idea and work hard to bring the idea to life, this is very important. It even shows Beyoncé saying that they still need to improve some things and that the time (the festival was near) was running out. It is visible that she knows what she wants and she makes clear all the details that are necessary for her to have what she wants. A real #BossLady!

So here are the 7 reasons not to leave this movie for tomorrow! Just hit the play and then tell me .. What did you think? What is your favorite part? How many days have you been singing and dancing Beyoncé around the house after watching the film?! Haha

xoxo
